This was mostly dropped in favor of actually having the villains target multiple Senshi and their allies at a time and destroy them.īut this is only the first half of Galaxia's evil plan: she later revives Usagi's friends as her own minions, forcing Sailor Moon to face them all at once. Sailor Moon tried to follow her but was blasted back. Saturn dove into the crater to finish what she unintentionally started. Saturn held her Silence Glaive to Sailor Moons head and said goodbye. In the earlier arcs, there usually were chapters when one of the villain's minions would target one of the individual Senshi one-by-one. Sailor Moon begged Saturn not to go alone and even tried to follow her into the crater made by the explosion.
This arc broke tradition from a lot of the previous storylines. Of course, it also introduced one of the series' most famous villains, Shadow Galactica, led by Sailor Galaxia.
This story arc introduced a lot of fan-favorite characters, like the Sailor Starlights and Princess Kakyuu (who turned out to be a Sailor Senshi too), as well as the mysterious Chibi-Chibi (and Sailor Cosmos). It even ended on a cliffhanger that introduced the next arc, including a new important character: Chibiusa. Eventually, the past is revealed: Usagi is the Moon Princess and her mother, Queen Serenity, sent her and her court to the future to give them a second chance at life.Įven though this story arc needed to introduce the plot, it still had quite a bit of interesting side stories and plots. The villains from this story arc are the Dark Kingdom, ruled by the parasitic Queen Metalia, a demon from the sun, who destroyed the original Moon Kingdom by manipulating the people of the Earth against the people of the Moon. This story arc quickly introduces the rest of the Inner Senshi: Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Venus, the last of whom is none other than Sailor V, as well as the mysterious Tuxedo Mask. When a young girl named Usagi rescues a black cat named Luna, she learns that she is to become the glamorous superhero, Sailor Moon, and use her powers to protect the Earth from evil, join forces with the other Sailor Senshi, and find the mysterious Moon Princess, although she might be closer than she thinks. This is the story arc that started it all, with the technical exception of the Sailor V manga.
